Activities Release Form Student Name* First Last ActivitiesRocky Mountain Summer Conservatory incorporates into the program various outdoor activities. Taking advantage of the beauty of our setting, our students regularly set out on graded hikes and other activities that promote physical vigor. It is our intent to impress upon our students the need to view themselves as athletes whose discipline is the performance of music. Our mandatory activities consist of the following: 1) Stretching. Students participate in mandatory 10-15 minutes of stretching, 5 days per week, which focuses on stretching muscles and building the upper body, with emphasis on the back, shoulders, arms and hands. The stretching activity is designed to prepare the students for the day’s musical activities. 2) Trail hiking. Students participate in hiking 3-4 days per week and is mandatory for the student unless a medical/health reason prevents participation. The hiking is designed to condition the student’s body as athlete and enhance the mental diet. 3) Conditioning. Students participate in a mandatory one hour physical conditioning class 3 days per week. The conditioning is designed to focus on core training and flexibility. Individual exercises are performed as a student is able.Activities* Select All Hiking on the mountain trails in the Yampa Valley area Mountain biking on the mountain trails in the Yampa Valley area Swimming in the pool, lakes, streams or available hot tubs in the Yampa Valley area Tubing in the Yampa River Horseback riding in the Yampa Valley area Martial arts technique and class Riding the Alpine Slide Riding the Gondola Ultimate and disk golf Soccer Basketball Campfires Group trips to Steamboat Springs commercial area for unsupervised activity (shopping, movies, dining, etc.) Various outdoor activities may present risk of injury to the participants.
